For the third time in his career as a screenwriter, Jason’s new script, Dorr Street Blues has made it to the second round of the prestigious Sundance Screenwriters’ Lab. From Sundance.org:
The Lab provides an immersive environment that encourages all participants to embrace a spirit of creative risk-taking and collaboration, and imparts vital lessons in the art and craft of screenwriting while building a robust creative community. Through one-on-one story sessions with Creative Advisors, Fellows take part in an artistically rigorous process that facilitates the deep exploration needed to fully realize their material. The Lab is the first step in a year-round continuum of customized creative and tactical support for each project and team.
If selected, Dorr Street Blues would have advanced further than two other scripts written by Jason, Too Marvelous for Words and All the Children Are Insane, which only made it that far. Hopefully, the third time is the charm!
The accolades keep coming for Jason’s biopic feature script, chronicling several pivotal years (1966-72) in the monumental career of music legend Marvin Gaye. “Marvin” was chosen from over 2, 500 scripts to reach the quarterfinals of the prestigious 6th Annual Screencraft Screenwriting Fellowship. Up to four emerging TV or film screenwriters will receive the ScreenCraft Fellowship, which includes a week of meetings, mentorship and personal introductions to studio executives, literary agents, managers and producers including Warner Bros., Universal and more.
The Launch Pad Competition, in exclusive partnership with Verve, Good Fear Film + Management and Romark Entertainment is thrilled to announce that Jason Gilmore’s biopic screenplay “Marvin” is one of the Top 100 finalists for the 2018/2019 Launch Pad Feature Competition.
